For years, the Bitcoin network has been advertised as one of the fastest in the world, allowing the processing of almost instantaneous transactions. However, despite its reputation, there was a detailed examination of the speed with which the transactions spread through the network. In this article, we will deepen the details on the measurement of the speed of the operations on the Bitcoin network.

This value was historically about 2-4 seconds, which is relatively fast considering the complexity and decentralization of the network. However, this number may vary according to several factors such as the congestion of the network, the size of the blockchain and the speed of communication between the nodes.

To obtain information on the speed with which transactions spread through the network, we must consider measuring the propagation time of the blocks to the most active customers. This can be done using tools that simulate network conditions or manually testing different scenarios with a series of wallets and test knots. The results

Using the simulated chain, we tested the propagation time of the blockade to the most active customers in three different scenarios:
